Carrot Currant Masala Muffin + Bread Baking Mix (Vegan and Gluten-Free)


Vibrant single origin spices form an intriguing masala blend within these hearty muffins. We add zante currants for a sweet tang. The foundation is our house-milled, nutrient-dense flour blend, gently sweetened with maple sugar. You add fresh carrots to round out these moist, nourishing muffins.

Our mixes are crafted in small batches for optimal freshness. Each and every ingredient is the best of the best — sourced directly from regenerative and organic farms.

‘Okina’s flour blend is freshly milled, featuring Nash’s Organic Produce oats, Yemetz Family Farms’ almonds and Kandarian Organic Farms’ buckwheat, teff and flaxseeds.

Our masala blend is made in-house, featuring single origin spices from Burlap & Barrel — Cloud Forest Yellow Cardamom, Pemba Cloves, Cinnamon Verum and Wild Mountain Cumin.

The zante currants come from Three Sisters Organic, and the maple sugar comes from Patterson Sugar Bush. 

Ingredients: (* = Organic) ‘Okina flour blend (oats*, almonds*, buckwheat*, teff*, flaxseeds*), maple sugar*, zante currants*, ‘Okina baking powder (cream of tartar, arrowroot*, baking soda), baking soda, ‘Okina garam masala (cardamom*, cloves*, cinnamon*, cumin), salt

Yield: 11-12 muffins - or - one loaf (8 ½ x 4 ½ x 2 ½)

For optimal freshness, store mix in freezer, and use within 6 months.

Wow, this mix was fantastic - easy to use, quality ingredients, warming, nourishing, comforting, delicious. I didn't have a muffin pan, so baked it in a square cake pan and it still came out great - very forgiving! I love the delicate flavors. Thanks so much Okina!

Warming and delicious

Delicious, simple to make, and my whole family enjoyed these (tough crowd at 15 and 12)! We have also tried the banana and base versions which are both great. So happy to have found this mix and they make great gifts. I gifted a couple of bags to my mom and sister in law who both enjoy both healthy cooking and ease in preparation.

Long overdue review. The Carrot Currant Masala Cake with "Cream Cheese" frosting is ridiculously amazing. We made it with organic pastured whole milk yogurt for a touch of CLA goodness. Out of this world wholesome deliciousness. Thanks 'Okina!
