All of our ingredients are organically-grown, and we primarily work with certified organic farmers. Our products are not labeled as certified organic as our facility is not organically-certified at this time.
We do not use any gluten-containing ingredients in our products. We have tested our oats to ensure that gluten levels test below 20 ppm (which is the FDA definition for gluten-free). However, our facility is not certified gluten free.
Yes, all of our ingredients are vegan.
When we use the term regenerative, we’re referring to farms that prioritize soil health through practices including cover cropping, no/minimal tilling, managed grazing, composting and integration of trees. Farming in this way improves soil health, crop yields, water resilience and nutrient density. These practices build upon organic methods to help sequester carbon and positively impact our environment.
Teff is a tiny, ancient seed that, when milled, produces a rich, earthy flour. This ancient staple of Ethiopia and Eritrea is naturally gluten free and high in many minerals. We appreciate the complexity, flavor and nutrition that teff flour adds to our mixes.
Product Care + Use
Our mixes are made with freshly milled whole grains and no preservatives. We retain the nutrient-rich germ when milling, which means our flours still contain their natural oils. Because of this, our mixes have a shorter shelf life than typical grocery store brands.
Storing our mixes in the freezer helps preserve our products for up to 6 months. We do not recommend storing at room temperature.
Very fresh! Our ingredients are milled in small batches every week. Unlike typical brands that sit on a store shelf or in a warehouse for extended periods, we take care to ensure that our mixes are as fresh as possible. It takes more work, but the superior product is worth it!
We prefer unsweetened organic applesauce. Sweetened or flavored applesauce may be used, but it will impact the sugar content and flavor.
Our mixes work with any unsweetened plant-based milk or dairy milk.
Yes, homemade pumpkin puree and applesauce are fantastic choices. For best results, you’ll want to be sure the consistency doesn’t get too watery. If your puree runs watery, strain with a cheesecloth before measuring.
Yes, you can bake in a paper-lined loaf pan (8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5), using the following adjustments:
Base mix: ½ cup of applesauce and ¼ cup of milk along with the same add ins. Bake at 350°F for 50-55 minutes.
Carrot currant masala: ¼ cup applesauce and ½ cup of milk along with 1 cup grated carrots. Bake at 350°F for 55 minutes.
Banana chocolate chip: No applesauce. ¼ cup milk along with 3 medium, ripe bananas. Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour. For easier slicing, refrigerate overnight before slicing.
Pumpkin spice: 2/3 cup milk along with 1 cup of pumpkin (and any other add ins). Bake at 350°F for 55-60 minutes.
Yes, all varieties can be baked as mini muffins. Simply reduce the bake time to about 18 minutes.
We prefer unbleached liners, such as If You Care’s compostable baking cups. Parchment paper can also be cut to size.
We specifically choose materials with reduced environmental impacts and are continually looking for ways to improve the sustainability of our packaging. Currently:
• Our mixes are packaged in 100% recyclable bags (#2 HDPE, widely accepted at municipal facilities). • Our tissue paper is FSC-certified, made from 30% recycled materials and acid-free pulp and printed using soy-based inks. • Our stickers are 100% recyclable and compostable — made out of FSC-certified paper, printed using soy-based ink and have a non-toxic adhesive. • Our insert cards are 10% post-consumer recycled material, FSC-certified, SFI-certified sourcing, made with Total Chlorine Free and Elemental Chlorine Free virgin fibre content.
